The Moltisanti Crew was one of the 4 crews of the DiMeo Crime Family during the early 1970’s.
History[]
Formation[]
Richard “Dickie” Moltisanti founded the crew after he was promoted to capo sometime before 1972. They operated out of the Vulcan Vending Machine company, and hung out at Club Silhouette.
Newark Numbers War[]
in 1972, former DiMeo associate Harold McBrayer began taking over the Newark numbers racket. Starting with killing Moltisanti Associate Julie DeRogatis, and taking over his part of the racket. Dickie, along with Silvio Dante, Paulie Walnuts, and Pussy Bonpensiero then broke into Harold’s Car Shop one night, and tortured his cousin Cyril with an impact wrench, before Silvio shot him to death. After a standoff with his gang at Club Silhouette, Harold went on the run, with Dickie’s crew on the lookout for him.
During the Christmas season, Moltisanti soldier Carmine Cotuso spotted Harold with his son at a motel, and informed Silvio. He then relayed it to Dickie, who told him they’d do it tomorrow. Later that night however, Dickie was killed by a hitman sent by Junior Soprano.
The Moltisanti Crew would then be reformed back as a part of the Soprano Crew.
Legacy[]
In 2005, Dickie's son Christopher would form his own crew in the family that served as the successor to his father's crew. However, the crew would be disbanded after Christopher's death in 2007, and was once again reformed back as part of the Soprano crew, which was now headed by former Moltisanti soldier Paulie Gualtieri.
