The Sopranos Wiki

Esplanade Construction is a construction company in New Jersey, and a front business for the Soprano crime family. the Lupertazzi crime family of New York also have a stake in this business.

History[]

The Esplanade started up their riverfront project in 2000, during Tony Soprano and Carmine Lupertazzi's dealings with corrupt assemblyman Ronald Zellman. Ralph Cifaretto was in charge of the operation, and rose up to become Tony's top earner. After Ralph's death in 2003, business troubles arose between Tony and Carmine, which led to Carmine temporary shutting the operation down with a strike from his union people. However, they would soon reach a compromise, and the situation was settled.

Vito Spatafore was put in charge of the Esplanade and became the top earner in the Soprano Family. In 2005, Tony arranged a job for his daughter Meadow’s boyfriend Finn DeTrolio at the construction site, but he stopped working there after discovering that Vito was gay and feared retaliation. In 2006, after Vito was outed for being gay, Carlo Gervasi was given control of the Esplanade, though he failed to earn as much as Ralph or Vito did before him. After Carlo flipped to the FBI in 2007, Paulie Gualtieri was given control of both his crew, and all of his businesses, including the Esplanade.
