The Sopranos Wiki

Flyaway Motel, also known as the Hasidic Motel, is a hotel in Lodi, New Jersey owned by Shlomo Teittleman.

History[]

Season 1[]

Silvio Dante arranges a business meeting with Tony Soprano and Shlomo. Shlomo agrees to turn over 25% of his business if he is able to force his son-in-law Ariel to agree to divorce, because his son-in-law wants 50% and the government has put an end to the self policing Hasidics who were available before Shlomo. Even though Tony delivers on his end by having Ariel kidnapped and threatened into conceding, Shlomo cheats Tony out of the promised 25% share by privately renegotiating with Ariel. The one-time payoff Shlomo intended as severance was rejected by Silvio Dante and later Tony himself. ("Denial, Anger, Acceptance")

Season 2[]

Furio Giunta arranges a card game through new manager, Shlomo's son Hillel, who allowed some hookers for the DiMeo crime family to work out of the motel in exchange for "freebies". The players include Silvio, Johnny Sack, Frank Sinatra Jr, and Dr. Ira Fried. To Tony’s surprise, his old friend David Scatino arrives and is willing to join the game and Tony resists that the game is not for him, but Dave insists and Tony finally lets him in. The next morning, Richie Aprile visits the motel and tries to strangle Davey for daring to enter the game when he still owes him over $8,000. Tony breaks up the fight and takes Richie outside. ("The Happy Wanderer")

Davey stayed a night at the motel and parked at the back. ("Funhouse")

Season 6[]

In 2006, Christopher Moltisanti and his crew are using the Motel as a front of their credit card scamming racket. Murmur Zancone stopped at the motel and collected the numbers, before paying Hillel at the desk. ("Luxury Lounge")

Behind the Scenes[]

The interior and exterior shots of the motel were shot at an inn in Wayne, New Jersey, even though the Flyaway Motel is located in Lodi, since Silvio Dante mentions that the building is "across the street from the club" and indicates that customers of the Bada-Bing often stay at the motel.
