The Sopranos Wiki

Hillel Teittleman is a recurring character portrayed by Sig Lebowitz. He is the co-owner of the Flyaway Motel in New Jersey alongside his father, Shlomo Teittleman.

Biography[]

Hillel is the son of Shlomo Teittleman, and he was raised in a Hasidic Jewish family. Hillel and his father jointly owned the Flyaway Motel, while Hillel's brother-in-law Ariel worked there for his whole life. In 1999, Hillel's abused sister sought a divorce from Ariel, who demanded 50% of the motel in exchange for accepting.

Shlomo and Hillel met with the DiMeo crime family capo Tony Soprano, who agreed to help them. Hillel Teittleman had serious reservations about working with the DiMeo crime family, as he knew that they would insist on owning 25% of the motel, and that they were bad business partners.

Hillel's words proved prophetic, as Tony roughed his father up when he attempted to pay him off with cash instead of giving Tony a share of the motel. Hillel would be forced to co-own the business with the DiMeo mobsters, who used the motel for prostitution and to accomodate a high-stakes ("executive") poker game. In 2006, Teittleman would help DiMeo soldier Benny Fazio with his credit card number scheme.
