Hunter Scangarelo, played by guest star Michele DeCesare, is a friend of Meadow Soprano.
Biography[]
Hunter attended the same high school as Meadow. She is occasionally seen eating breakfast at the Soprano family home. In season two, Meadow visits Hunter in the hospital's eating disorder ward. Hunter suffers from an eating disorder. She went on to attend Reed College in Portland, Oregon but was expelled due to excessive partying and drunk driving. At a later point she enrolled in SUNY, where she majored in pre-med.
Carmela Soprano seemed to have a low opinion of Hunter, considering her of less caliber than girls she wished Meadow to associate with. Despite the low feelings, Carmela seemed concerned when Meadow informs Christopher Moltisanti that she will not go out with Brendan Filone (in actuality she had a crush on him) with Carmela demanding Christopher "keep that asshole away from that child". In the Finale, Hunter visited Meadow at her house, after they came back from in hiding. Carmela walked in and they greeted each other. Carmela was appalled to find out that Hunter was in her second year of medical school, at a time when Meadow was abandoning her aspirations of becoming a doctor, and instead becoming a lawyer for white collar criminals with her fiance Patrick Parisi, which both Carmela and Tony were disappointed in. Leaving Carmela jealous that a girl she always considered beneath her daughter now had her life straight.
