While Vito Spatafore is hiding in Dartford, New Hampshire, he meets Jim while he’s working at a diner and introduces himself as a writer named Vince. ("Live Free or Die")

Vito spends a lot of time at Jim’s Diner. Jim is also a volunteer firefighter. One evening, Vito sees him save a child from a fire. Vito, who is gay, falls in love with Jim. One evening, Jim and some fellow firefighters go to a bar and Vito joins them. When Vito admire Jim’s motorcycle in the parking lot, he tries to kiss him, Vito rejects and the two men get in a fight and Jim leave Vito beaten. A few days later, they reconcile at the diner. After this, the two men ride the motorcycle together to a park and have a picnic. ("Johnny Cakes")

Jim learns the truth about Vito, who he knows as Vince, that he’s not really a writer. Vito also confesses that he left behind his wife and kids, and his job in contracting in New Jersey. The relationship between the two men develops stronger, and Vito moves in with Jim. When Jim wakes up in the morning, he finds that Vito is gone. ("Moe n' Joe")
