Why is he busting my balls? Tell him to get to the fucking point.
― Nino[src]

Nino is a minor character on The Sopranos. He is a high-ranking member of the Camorra in Naples, and takes part in a business deal involving stolen cars with Tony Soprano and the DiMeo crime family. He is portrayed by Antonio Lubrano.

Biography[]

Background[]

Nino says we always ask your uncle for more cars, but he was no supplier.
Furio Giunta to Tony Soprano[src]

Nino was a powerful member of Zi Vittorio's Camorra clan in Naples, and he supervised an overseas vehicle theft ring through their main supplier, the DiMeo crime family in America and its boss Junior Soprano. In September 1999, the operation saw a halt shortly after Junior's indictment and subsequent house arrest, and despite the many letters and telephone calls made to New Jersey from Italy, no cars were being delivered. Some days prior to his meeting with the DiMeos to resolve this matter, Nino was a fugitive from the Italian Police.[1]

Season 2[]

Tony, Paulie and Christopher go on a business trip to Italy to renew their car operation with the Vittorio family, and they are treated to an appetizing dinner at an upscale restaurant with all their Italian mafiosi counterparts, including Nino. Furio, serving as a translator, relays Nino's words to Tony, telling him that the flow of cars has stopped, to which Tony responds that his purpose here is to change that, handing Furio some pictures of different car models to show Nino saying that they can fill any orders they desire, but also mentioning with due respect that they were hoping to meet face-to-face with Vittorio. Offended at Tony's defiance, Furio translates for Tony that Nino feels disrespected, but Tony clarifies that isn't his intention and that it is an honor to do business with him. Frustrated at his lengthy wordiness, Nino asks him to get to the point, and Tony states that his price for a Mercedes ML is $90,000, which Nino laughs at considering it incomparable to other amounts for the same series in Europe. At that point, Don Vittorio and his daughter Annalisa appear, causing everybody to stand up and Nino to present his respect to them both. In addition, he introduces Tony to Vittorio, and is considerably shocked when the Don gestures for Tony to get closer so he can talk to him, although the senile mobster only tells him names of American streets and monuments nonsensically.[1]

Personality[]

Nino is demonstrated to be a no-nonsense, easily irritable mobster with a focus on business. Like his Italian mob peers, such as Camillo or Pino, he shares an emphasis on class and good customs, showing respect to Don Vittorio and Annalisa and getting affronted at Tony seemingly disrespecting him, but simultaneously displays crudeness when asking Tony to "get to the fucking point" with regard to their car operation. Since Furio mentions Nino was in hiding from the police until recently, it can be inferred he is a serious criminal and prone to escaping from the law.[1]

Tony Soprano[]

I come 3000 fucking miles, you never said nothing about this guy Nino, all of a sudden, he's my blind date?
Tony Soprano to Furio Giunta[src]

During talks regarding their stolen car operation, Nino did not get a good impression of Tony. He was seemingly suspicious that the DiMeos would somehow cheat them in the deal in some way, and was frustrated at both Tony's perceived lack of respect and his wordy figure of speech asking Furio to tell him to "get to the fucking point".[1]
