Stanisław "Stasiu" Wosilius is a minor character in The Sopranos. In "Full Leather Jacket", he was played by Marek Przystup while in "Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood", he was played by Albert Makhtsier.
History[]
Stasiu is the husband of Lilliana Wosilius, who works as the housekeeper of the Soprano home. Before immigrating to the United States, they lived in Łódź, Poland, where Stasiu was a mechanical engineer, heading an autonomous research department with 20 employees under him. Unlike Lilliana, Stasiu is unhappy with his life in New Jersey, having to give up on his old job to instead work as a lowly cab driver.
Stasiu is first seen accompanying his wife to help her carry a TV set that Carmela had to spare. Coincidentally, Richie Aprile was visiting and saw Stasiu walk in wearing Rocco DiMeo's jacket, which he had gifted to Tony Soprano. This greatly offends Richie, as he now realizes Tony saw no value in his prized jacket and had given it away to his maid without a second thought.
When the FBI tries to wiretap the Soprano household, the bureau takes note of Liliana's absence from the house, specifically for language classes and lunch with Stasiu. An agent watches the couple having a picnic in the park, rehearsing for their upcoming citizenship test. Liliana grows frustrated with him answering most questions with Martin Luther King, while Stasiu complains about having to leave behind his respected job in Poland. The bugging operation is nearly compromised when Lilliana gets annoyed and leaves the picnic to go back to the Soprano house, but the agent is able to stop this by distracting her with questions about the language school. Unfortunately for the FBI, the bug they are able to plant in the house's basement is rendered useless when the faulty water heater bursts. Tony had previously got Stasiu to jury rig the heater because he wanted to cheap out on replacing it in full, despite Stasiu's recommendation to do so.
Trivia[]
- When Stasiu and his wife speak Polish in "Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood", they both have awkward accents and grammar. This is because their actors are Russian and Hungarian respectively. Ironically, Stasiu was initially portrayed by an actual Pole.
