Timothy Van Patten (born June 10, 1959) is an American director, actor, screenwriter and producer. He has directed 20 episodes of The Sopranos, as well as writing the critically acclaimed season 3 episode "Pine Barrens".
Biography[]
Born in Brooklyn on June 10, 1959, Van Patten is the half-brother of fellow actors Dick Van Patten and Joyce Van Patten, and the uncle of fellow actors Vincent Van Patten and Talia Balsam. He grew up in Massapequa, New York, and graduated from high school in 1977. In 2001, along with Terence Winter, he won both the Edgar Award and the Writers Guild of America Award for the The Sopranos episode "Pine Barrens", and in 2004, he directed the season 5 episode "Long Term Parking", which won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. His daughter is actress Grace Van Patten. Apart from The Sopranos, he has also worked on other shows, such as Perry Mason, Boardwalk Empire, Black Mirror, Deadwood, Ed, Game of Thrones, The Pacific, Rome, Sex and the City and The Wire.
