Willie Overall is Tony Soprano's first hit and how he 'makes his bones'.
Biography[]
Willie was an African-American bookmaker who had a conflict of some sorts with the DiMeo crime family, so in 1982, his murder was ordered and it was left up to Tony, the son of Capo Giovanni "Johnny Boy" Soprano, who had never killed anyone before, and to Paulie Gualtieri, who was a soldier at the time. Paulie forced Tony to shoot Willie and after his death they buried him in the basement of a house on Labor Day. 25 years later, in the episode "Remember When", Larry Barese, who was cooperating with the FBI, informed them of the location of Willie's body, forcing Tony and Paulie to hide for a short period in Miami. Eventually, though, Larry told the FBI that Willie had been murdered by Jackie Aprile and they returned to New Jersey safe and sound. Willie is played by Herbert Rogers.
It’s possible that he was a relative of Leon Overall, a young gangbanger that was killed by Harold McBrayer in 1967.
